SPECIAL KINDERGARTEN PREPARATION PROGRAM
What? Kindergarten is no longer half day and "all play"!?!? Rigor and state tests and standards have unfortunately added a number of layers of complexity to schooling, including kindergarten. The end result is that the dynamics of the kindergarten you went to is not the kindergarten your children will go to. Therefore, many parents and guardians are confused over kindergarten and left with too many questions. Furthermore, some parents and guardians artificially brag about what's going on with their child. But all children learn at different rates, so that is often meaningless smalltalk. The other half of parents and guardians enter a panic mode. After all, it's enough to make anybody freak out. But that is equally unrealistic. Early childhood is important, and fundamentals become a corner stone for future learning. So what to do? Now what? Do you know what your child should know? What about the actual new core curriculum requirements? What exactly is necessary? Is your anxiety making your child anxious? You submitted a kindergarten application and your child's school choice will be available in April. The kindergarten selection process was not to get your child into the best school -- whatever that even means -- it was to get your child into the right school for them. I can help with clarification, guidance, patience and an understanding of what is involved with "kindergarten of 2014". I offer the following services: * Child assessment Is your child prepared for kindergarten? Let's evaluate strengths and weaknesses -- this can be accomplished with you, your child and myself together in a comfortable session for all. * Child kindergarten tutoring This can be done as the child experiences kindergarten. But also, before kindergarten starts, to bring your child up to speed and basics. It's never too early to enrich a child and satisfy their natural curiosities. * Parent and guardian coaching, and family planning Family dynamics, nutrition, health, etc do matter. Also free play and free time are invaluable. Don't swap them for anything. Especially for a kindergartner. Rigor and testing and over-structure can get carried away in "kindergarten competition".
